Choosing Harry Potter Halloween Costumes During the Financial Crisis

Halloween has the popularity of being the most unusual of holidays. Imagine celebrating the spirit of evilness and death. Nevertheless, it has become one of the most celebrated and most awaited holiday by one and all. Choosing scary Halloween costumes according to the latest trends has become a tradition. Want to know what the latest trend is this season? Harry Potter Halloween costumes are just the right thing for you. But with the credit crunch and the financial crisis, are they really affordable? Did you know that we spend an average of $60 on Halloween costumes alone? That's a scary thought. Isn't it? Some financial tips while buying such costumes might help.

Buying discount coupons online is a great way to buy Harry Potter Halloween costumes. There are quite a number of stores offering coupons on costumes and accessories. The discounts usually range between 5%-7%. But for that you need to keep yourself updated on coupon advertisements in your local newspapers and mailers. Remember, any discount is good discount. Consider modifying costumes from earlier Halloween parties for this Halloween. A vampire robe from last year could be upgraded to a Harry Potter robe.

Buy Harry Potter Halloween costumes much earlier than the holiday. That way you can get the best discounts. Another time to get good discounts is after the holiday. You can also save money by buying costumes and decorations for the next year during this season. Look for online stores which offer free shipping or minimum charges on shipping. You can compare various websites before deciding on the best deal suitable for you.

Exchanging old costumes for new is a great way to not just help another person but also finding inexpensive Harry Potter Halloween costumes. These costumes could be relatively unused. You end up paying only shipping charges when you buy through websites that offer exchange costumes. There are movie production teams too offering unused or used costumes for sale. You could find costumes to suit your needs at a low price. However, you don't have much of choice when you buy through these methods.

Buying Harry Potter Halloween costumes through online stores not only provides you with reasonable discounts but also gives you a wide choice in Harry Potter costumes and accessories. Quidditch robes, girl death eater robes, glasses, wands, brooms sold in various sizes and colors are a few examples. Certain accessories are also upgraded according to the preferences of children. You could even mix and match the costumes you buy with whatever you have at home. For example, you might have old glasses and a broom at home. You just need to add a robe to complete the kit.

So this Halloween season, get creative in managing your finances wisely. Harry Potter is the in thing, but so is the financial crisis. Choose the right Harry Potter costume and don't let Halloween scare the hell out of you. Make it an enjoyable holiday for friends and family.

Creating A Great Halloween Party For Your Teenagers

Most teenagers do not want to be going out trick-or-treating, but they still love Halloween and want to celebrate it with a party. Why not help your teenager plan a fun Halloween party to help them celebrate with their friends in a safe environment? Granted, teenagers can sometimes be a tough audience to please but if you involve them in the planning from the start, they will enjoy it all the more.

Here are a few suggestions for your teen Halloween party:

- Invite all teens to come in costume. Put both a start time and an ending time on invitations.

- Decorate with anything from streamers and balloons to a full-scale haunted house.

- Teens LOVE Music. Why not invite the teen guests to bring one CD along with so that they can alternate the music that is played during the party.

- Teens also LOVE to eat, keep the treats/food simple but fun for them to munch on as they socialize.

- Serve punch in a witch's cauldron with dry ice. Have each teen bring a 12-oz. can of soda and pour it into a punchbowl for a strange tasting and looking drink.

- For dessert, why not serve pumpkin pie or pumpkin ice cream with candy corn sprinkled on top.

Safety is obviously very important at a teenager's party. Here are a few tips to keep the party great fun while being safe also.

- Never should you allow alcohol to be served at a party involving teenagers

- Be sure that there is a parent picking up the teen from your home or that they have a valid drivers license and are driving straight home.

- Keep in contact with the parents of the teens that are attending the party to let them know that the party will be properly supervised.

Halloween - Autumn Celebration!

Halloween means haunted houses, trick or treating and getting lost in thoughts of candy. It is an odd mixture of creepy creatures, costume parties, and harvest festivals. The festivities that revolve around this holiday equal memories to remember.

While Halloween creates unforgettable moments', it is its involvement that shows why it is such an exciting time of the year. Halloween is a time when Pagans honor and remember their deceased loved ones, not the devil. Halloween is old English word which means" hallowed evening". Halloween is one of the oldest celebrations in the world, dating back over 2000 years to the time of the Celts who lived in Britain.

Halloween traditions thought to be incompatible with Christianity often became linked with Christian folk beliefs about evil spirits. Although such superstitions varied a great deal from place to place, many of the supernatural beings now associated with

Anakin Skywalker & Star Wars Costumes for Halloween!

Star Wars was and always will be an amazing trilogy for both the "sequels" and the "prequels". And year after year there are just tons of costume choices for all of these amazing characters. From Princess Leah to Hans Solo. And don't get me started on the alien costumes...Whew!

And when the prequels came close to the end, we all fell in love with the young Anakin Skywalker, which if you don't know and you should...becomes Darth Vader. And his costume is way cool. The "replica costume" is very detailed for those that like replica collector costumes. And there are many with Star Wars.

Many kids enjoy the Anakin Skywalker costumes because of the fact that they come in many different styles. Mainly due to where we find Anakin during his training to become a Jedi Knight. There's the young version, the slightly older version and the Anakin just as he is descending to the Dark Side of the force. There is even an "animated" style of the Anakin Skywalker costume... very 3D.

Did you know that in the last Star Wars called Return of the Jedi, and in the 2004 DVD release the ghostly appearance of Sebastian Shaw (who was the old version of Anakin) was replaced digitally with Hayden Christensen? Interesting stuff eh...

I think that you really can't go wrong with Star Wars costumes no matter if you like the girl outfits like Princess Leah, Amidala or the male outfits of Luke Skywalker, Anakin, Hans Solo all of em young or adult.

Quick Halloween Craft Idea - Witch's Hands!

This is a handprint craft with a difference! You need only a few inexpensive supplies which you will probably have lying around the house. It is an easy craft to do with a crowd of children and the results are great for decorating the house or classroom. Best of all, you will end up with a fun memento to keep and look back on as the children grow.

You will need:

Green card or paper

Scraps of black, red or purple card, paper, felt, tissue paper etc

Pencils and pens

White glue

Instructions:

Draw around the children's hands onto the green card. Older children can pair up and draw round each other's hands. Cut out carefully.

Use the scraps of paper or card to cut pointed oval shapes for long, spiky finger nails and stick them on - embellishing, if you like, with glitter or stickers.

Draw some spidery veins onto the hands, using your own hands as inspiration.

Why not add a wart or two? Make them by scrunching tissue paper into a tiny ball and sticking onto the hands with white glue.

Use the hands to decorate a notice-board, the fridge, or the Halloween table (place them on either side of a plate for a humorous effect). If you attach them to the edge of doors with sticky-tack it looks as if someone spooky could be hiding on the other side!

Alternatively, attach plain white paper to the back of the hands and use them as invitations!

Variations:

Older children could create monster hands. Use cream or brown card and square off the fingers of their handprint before cutting out. Fingernails should be black or perhaps silver, and also square in shape. Use black pen to draw veins and lots of spiky black hair in the center of the hand and knuckles!

Ghostly hands can be made out of white card. Stretch your handprints out a little to give particularly long, thin fingers. Make fingernails out of grey or silver scraps and decorate with silver glitter. Use pencil or grey pen to draw on veins.

Make Halloween Safe For Children and Teeth With Halloween Stickers

My wife and I cringe at the thought of Halloween. We don't despise crazy costumes and tromping through the neighborhood in the dark. We are anticipating the darkness that will befall us in the near future. What we call the detox, the candy detox that is.

We love pilfering the tootsie rolls and peanut butter cups form our unsuspecting children's bags, but for every piece of candy we steal, our little angels have consumed five times more. To avoid the ultimate sugar crash, and make our dentist proud, we have come up with some treat ideas that are healthier and more creative than just buying a bag of candy to distribute to the little neighborhood goblins..

Some healthier suggestions might include:

Individual packs of pretzels

Individual packs of raisins

Popcorn balls (store bought and packaged is best)

Individual sliced apple packs

Carrot and dip packs

Bars ( granola, Odwalla, etc.)

Sugar Free Gum

Sometimes, because the kids do get so many sugary treats, they might really enjoy something they don't eat. There are lots of stores selling the big party bags full of little Halloween toys. These bags include rings, whistles, glow sticks, fake bugs, fake bats, etc. Sometimes it doesn't even matter if it is a Halloween theme.

Baseball or Pokemon cards might be a hit. Stickers and tattoos are great . Sometimes just shopping in the dollar store can be inspirational. Packets of pumpkin seeds to grow next year would be fun and educational. So would art supplies. There are a lot of ideas out there. It just takes a little thought.

We have also devised a strategy for the days and weeks ahead to help alleviate the sugar psychosis. When the kids come home from trick or treating, we make sure to check their bags and take out questionable items like fruit or loose candy that looks like it has been tampered with. Let the kids know that they are allowed a designated number of treats that night, and then put the rest away.

In the following days , limit the number of pieces of candy, and use that as a dessert after dinner. For the big finale, and this is a little drastic, but works remarkably well, we prepare for the "Great Pumpkin Visit".

Yes you heard me. After about a week, when the candy and treats have lost some of their appeal, the kids take the rest of it, put it in bags, and put it out on our porch. Over night , the "Great Pumpkin" makes a visit, and in place of the bags of candy, he leaves small toys, games, puzzles or other goodies. Thanks to the "Great Pumpkin", and with some forethought , we have eased out of the sugar season, hopefully with all mental capacities still intact.

Face Painting

Face Painting is always a big hit with children of all ages. It is not difficult assounds. You do not have to paint his face as an artist.

There are two ways to perform a face painting activity at a meeting of youth. One is an adult who is ready with a plan some popular face painting will have a unique design to paint on each child.

The other way is for children to paint each other. It is unclear what kind of creations children come when they are given brushes and paint.

The key with Face Painting is the use ofTry authentic face paints, craft paints do not use as make-up. It is not safe for use on skin.
